Dear Julia -- CoverMemories of Sun -- Cover

When it comes to publishing, I’m no Joyce Carol Oates, that’s for sure.  But I’ve written a few things for children over the years.

In 1998 I published a book called Beyond the Mango Tree.  You can read the New York Times review here.

In 2008 I put out another one called Dear Julia, which was immediately hurled into obsolescence.  I thought it was hilarious, but I think it confused most people. My editor would send me the lousy reviews with a note saying, “They didn’t get it.”

I wrote a short story in Cricket Magazine about a thousand years ago, and Jane Kurtz put one of my stories, entitled, “Her Mother’s Monkey” in an anthology called Memories of Sun.  This book has also been hurled into obsolescence.

I’m finishing a comic memoir this year. It’s about how I left my husband to concentrate on becoming a homosexual. You can read excerpts of that piece here
